What is a Chief of Staff?
A Chief of Staff is a CEO or Founder’s right hand, their strategic thought partner, who is focused on the leader’s priorities. A CoS can manage large scale projects, create & implement strategic plans, and facilitate high-level meetings and engagements. Chiefs of Staff are masters of follow through and are highly organized, and depending on the size and needs of the business, they may also oversee functions like employee culture, operations, or HR.

In recent years, the Chief of Staff Position has taken off. Companies are seeing the value in this strategic & executionary thought partner for their top leaders. Companies like T-Mobile, Microsoft, Oracle, LinkedIn, Amazon, and more are building the Chief of Staff role into their organizational structure for their most senior leaders, and often the same role exists for other company leaders but may be titled “Business Operations Manager,” or something similar.
